I was covering the news from Thailand right after the tsunami catastrophe. That was a hard job, one of the hardest I have ever done in my life. I went back to Khao Lak in March 2005 to write about recovering and reconstruction, and that trip also worked as psychological recovering for me, too.
In Khao Lak, the atmosphere was now eerily quiet. The only sound was the gentle lull of the breaking waves. In the middle of all the rubble, I saw something surprising: a flower had grown from the ground.
Life goes on.

What an incredible photograph! Very powerful. I have a blog on Bangkok if you’d like to check it out. http://urbanpilgrim.wordpress.com.
